At 10:08am on June 7, the unveiling ceremony of Wuchang Shouyi University was held at the university gymnasium. Representatives from all walks of life and thousands of teachers and students witnessed the exciting, happy, sacred and solemn occasion in a warm atmosphere.

The ceremony was presided over by Feng Xiangdong, Party Secretary of the University. And it was attended byWang Zhan, former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education, former Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, Chairman of Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles; Dr. Jiang Bingkun, former President of Straits Exchange Foundation;Mr. Zhang Ronggong, Chairperson of the Presidium of Central Consultative Council of KMT;Professor Zhai Zhenyuan, President of China Association of Higher Education; Xu Yanbing, Deputy Director of Hubei Provincial Department of Education; Dr. Wu Qingji, President of Taiwan University and Director-General of Cross-Strait Modern Vocational Education Association (Taiwan); Zhang Lianghua, Deputy Director of Taiwan Affairs Office of Hubei Provincial People's Government; Zhu Yuquan, former Party Secretary of Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Li Peigen, former President of Huazhong University of science and Technology; Duan Xianzhong, Vice President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Yang Jin, Director of Vocational Education Research Institute of Ministry of Education; Huang guangying, former Executive Vice President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Zhang Kaiyuan, a famous historian and educator, former President of Central China Normal University and a chief expert in the study of the Revolution of 1911; Kong Jianyi, President of Wuhan University of Science; Zhang Jianjun, Division Chief of Development and Planning Division of Hubei Provincial Department of Education; Zhang Hanwen, President of the National Federation of Taiwan Enterprises, etc., nearly 50 scholars from the education and business circles in Taiwan, 200 odd representatives from more than 20 universities and 50 businesses in Wuhan, and all university leaders as well.

First, Zhang Jianjun declaredThe Notice of Hubei Provincial People's Government’s Agreement to the Transformation of Huazhong University of Science and Technology Wuchang Branch into Wuchang Shouyii University, 17 experts and scholars from home and abroad jointly unveiled the new name of the university. Then, Zhou Jin, principal of the University, read a congratulatory letter and those who had sent congratulatory telegrams. Next, Director Jin Guohua granted letters of appointment to Dr. Wu Qingji and Professor Zhang Kaipyuan as honorary principals and a certificate of appointment to Professor Guo Jingzhi from Hwa Hsia University of Science and Technology in Taiwan as full-time Vice-Chancellor; Principal Zhou Jin granted a certificate of appointment to Professor Yang Shanguo from National Chin-Yi University of Technology in Taiwan as part-time professor. Last, Dr. Wu Qingji presented a plaque with words which mean one deserves the honor after he makes achievements to our university, and Chienkuo Technology University and other universities in Taiwan sent gifts to our university as well.
