Recently, students in Department of Foreign Languages took part in 2015 “FLTRP Cup” National reading contest , writing contest and speech contest. Liang Zhuohong, a junior student, won the second place in reading contest at the provincial level. And Li Jia, a senior and Wu Qianqian, another junior, won the third place respectively in speech and writing contest inHubei.

In the “FLTRP Cup”Hubeifinals, there were contestants from over 50 colleges and universities inHubeiProvince, such asWuhanUniversity, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and so on. In the speech contest, contestants were required to make an impromptu speech within 3 minutes based on the topic they were assigned randomly. In the writing contest, contestants were required to finish 2 argumentative essays within 120 minutes, and each of the essays should be at least 500 words. In the reading contest, contestants were required to finish different tasks, like multiple choices, and short-answer questions, within 120 minutes.

Apart from that, Zhang Haiwen and Zhang Heng, seniors from foreign languages department, won the Excellence Award at the Sixth Cross-Strait Interpreting Contest inHubei.
