Though Miles Apart ~ Distance Teaching as Promised

Our university is actively exploring online education amid the ongoing novel coronavirus outbreak after the Ministry of Education announced in late January the postponement of the 2020 spring semester. However, having an online course has been a great challenge for our foreign teacher living abroad as she was unfamiliar with Chinese livestreaming and relevant platforms.
During this Spring Festival, Our Spoken English teacher Veronika returned to her hometown for winter vacation. Due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus disease, the university could not start face-to-face teaching as scheduled. When she was informed to start online teaching activities, with the support of Xumin, director of English Department, Veronika installed and registered her software, she overcame difficulties in time difference between China-Russia to make an online teaching plan.

A live streaming online course provided by Veronika

On the first day of the new semester, her classes started smoothly at 8:30 am Chinese time. She logged into the Teaching Apps to organize attendance checking and carry out the live streaming online courses.
''I'm gradually adapted to this way of life and teaching after one week's distance interaction with my lovely students. I'll endeavor to solve any problems that might occur later and I'm determined to make my contributions to the development of WSYU and the students during the harsh but promising period,'' said Veronika.
''Speaking and learning with our foreign teacher thousands of miles away through video Apps is quite different from my traditional classes, it's a fresh and precious experience for us. Veronika often encourages us to speak out confidently and helps us correct each mistake and error through app software or Wechat,'' the feedback from Daniel Zhou, one of the sophomores from English Department.

Students were taking online classes at home

''What's more, as the saying goes, virus knows no borders, love has no boundaries, no matter what color of skin,
no matter which country you are in. Although the sudden epidemic outbreak separated our meeting, it could not separate
our thirst for knowledge and communication. We are bound by the foreign languages, we gathered  at Wuhan last September,
and the love for our kindly teacher will be deeply kept in our hearts!'' Mia Wong added, one of the freshmen from English Department.
At present, Veronika is conducting distance teaching activities in an orderly way with students' active participation.
''Всё мгновенно, всё пройдет.''——''In a moment, passes sorrow; that which passes will be dear."This well-known phrase
by Russian poet is kept in our hearts, conveying good wishes for the coming future.
